With the hopes of bringing together the Australian and Italian community of Lismore and surrounding, Bob Casagrande and John Da Re set in motion the idea of building a club. The pair canvassed their community for financial and physical assistance and received that and more.
The inaugural meeting to officially register the club took place in the Catholic School Parish of North Lismore on the 20th of November 1960, where more than seventy people attended. Italian tradesmen and local volunteers began construction and the club officially opened on the 27th of April 1963. The original concrete base and initial brick work still stands today.
The club continued to grow with a sporting heart, having Club members travel frequently across NSW and QLD to engage in friendly tournaments. Club Marconi aided the Lismore Club in its early years by assisting them with furnishings, layouts and advice regarding liquor requirements.
